Finer Things - Music and lyrics © 2000 by Ray Agnew

I used to be a dreamer, a man of many sides
Sometimes walk the edge of what was wrong and what was right
I had so much to say
And so little time to say it all

As I grew older I found my dreams erased
By the lure of a paycheck, the fire inside replaced by a new gas grill
A Honda in the garage
A virtual collage of the finer things

Now it ain't so bad for me, I got my wife and family
I still got wings
I just don't know if I can keep up the pace for the finer things

Been thing of my daddy when I was just a boy
His job was his obsession his liquor was his joy
He had so much to say
But he never said a word at all

So with every chance for bigger bucks we'd hit a brand new town
It finally caught up with him when mama was struck down
Then the big house on the hill and all that we once had
Vanished like my dad
So long finer things

Now it ain't so bad for me, I got my wife and family
I still got wings
I just don't know if I can keep up the pace for the finer things
