This poem is about a Christian man that was drawn to me
but wouldn't ask me out. Eventually he did.

FOR ALL THOSE TIMES

For all the times I thought of you

when the winds wouldn't cease
and the sun shone over us like a lamp of God's eye
and the days passed like rain upon the snow

I prayed for you
and in your thoughts I mused
I found myself in your muse
as if the night could whisper
and the morning wouldn't tell

And there you go in your silence, sitting
uncomfortable in your covering
but humble
just there in your pain
I can almost touch you
but you dissipate into the autumn days

When time performs it's cruel ritual
And now is but a faint memory
And we have been stained by it's passing--

When you remember me, as you will
perhaps by some memorial such as this
or by a comment made, a laugh, or maybe just a sigh--

Will you feel the weight of what could have been?
the scent of a moment that we shared?
or the hue of the dark green of my eyes or the brown
or the strained melody of some song&Mac183;

will you wish me well?

HE SENT ME A LOVE SONG

He sent me a love song in the wind
you ask, how did I know it was from Him?
The scent was sweet, the sky was clear
He was in my heart and in the air

The flowers at my feet smiled at me
Here this is for you, just for you to see
The mountains rise above as if to say
He is so powerful and majestic, it will be okay.

The scenery around me is the work of His hands
It's all a gift of His grace, not of man's
This knowledge--too lofty for me to attain,
hangs in the wind, the love song's refrain.

EDGERTON PARK

EDGERTON PARK

Heavy in foot, lagging in spirit
I tread a familiar walking route
Ignoring details, blind to charms
That moved me once to daily joy.

The yards seem gray and shabby now
The hedges drab, the beds unkempt
Each browning wreath a weary symbol
Evoking time forever lost.

Shingles and siding fade and falter
Peeling paint marks winter wounds
Potholes scar the ice-cracked sidewalks
Where ponds of muddy snowmelt pool.

But up ahead the park lane beckons
Lined with towering evergreens
Whose loss of limbs cannot diminish
Manifest grace or quiet strength.

As puppies race and couples stroll
The day turns blue and breezes stir
The upward climb revives my vigor
Drawing me through the exit gate.

Here on high my heart now sings
Rejoicing in patterned brick and stone
Beguiled by vines awaiting roses
Conscious of the coming spring.

On the homeward path I ponder
How the mind can overlook
The hidden truth below the surface
Willing to be heard and seen.

Each walk has now become a journey
Back to where I started from
Looking now for signs and wonders
Planted in the frozen ground.

Warmed by love, unfurled by kindness
Petals and leaves will reappear
And souls will dance in joyful wonder
Quickened by the only sun.

SURRENDERED WALK

God has totally been showing me examples of the surrendered walk. Oswald
Chambers wrote "My Utmost for His Highest." I was given a copy of it when I
was a Young Life Leader, 15 years ago, by two parents and board members. I
pretty much stuck it into my "to read" pile. About 2 years ago, I got to it.
I've read the online daily through Gospel.com. I received the Bible with
commentary. I bought my son a child's devotional, "My Utmost," for kids. I
am being hit with this from all sides. Then I went to Charles Stanley's site
and he has a profile on Oswald Chambers. I've been very touched by what I
see God did in his life, as a result of his willingness to yield and be
used. It's contagious!

I keep thinking of the turmoil with Joseph being sold into slavery, but what
he said to his brothers hits me. "God meant this for good." So, He saw the
bigger purpose that we cannot see. I also keep thinking about Job and how
God restored everything and was totally in control. And, Abraham willing to
surrender Isaac. God just wants our obedience and our hearts, to see how
much we love Him. He promises to be with us, to never leave us, or forsake
us. We just have to let Him work through us. I am still trying to learn
this. I don't have it cornered. I am the clay and He is the potter.

I pray that God will continue to sustain you. God is in control, but it may
not feel like it.

A VIEW FOR GOVERNING

A VIEW FOR GOVERNING

The understanding Americans have for upholding Constitutional law,
through the judicial review system, is to maintain the purity of its
original intent; as well, the duty of Christians is to maintain the purity
of God's word, being a supreme law, in its original intent. When a law is
executed, or put into effect, it is subject to interpretation; therefore,
the original meaning or intent of the written law must be kept pure in its
interpretation thereof. Unlike the Constitution, God's word has no
amendments. At the same time, some interpretations of God's word are
questionable because they have lacked the consideration of its original
intent. Undeniably, it is the privilege and honor by God to maintain and
uphold the purity of His word. In order to do that, every effort by
Christians to comprehend, apply, and present His word, should respectfully
consider its original intent.

DARK PLACES TO LIGHT

DARK PLACES TO LIGHT

Wondrous and sweet
Your Spirit's a gurgling brook
Through my senses

Your stream moistens my parched hope
Your dew falls fresh on my soul in the morning

Why do I have to be on my knees to find You?
Why can't I stand and pray?
Or sit and pray?
Why am I so stubborn about losing my shins behind me?
I think I'm the spiritual one
I seek You and have Your Presence throughout the day
Your miracles constantly unfold at my work
Before my grateful eyes
But it's been weeks since I've put my knees to the floor
Seeking You more
Yet seriously fearing You won't answer, so what is the point?
What's the point of prayer
If I pray for the wrong things so the answer is, "No"?

On my knees I can't walk, I'm stuck
Forced to close my eyes or, out of boredom, peer at Your clouds
A secret place inside glides with your gliding birds
A secret place inside lifts to the height of your sky
The stream of Your life is flowing within
To cast a youthful glow on my falling skin

I want this
This freshness more
You have it in store
When I meet the floor

Be still and know
In that secret place I find Christ
Christ in me
Turning my dark places to light

A GREETING FOR A FRIEND

A GREETING FOR A FRIEND

May He who takes burdens
And lifts away strain
And He who melts hurting
Like sun through the rain

Nestle you close
In Arms that are wide
And settle your soul
In love that abides

May bird songs in morning
Draw you outside
With coffee that's warming
You breathe open skies

His waters are calm
The blues lap anew
The heart of His song
Is sung just for you

He sings for the deaf
He paints for the blind
The world rules its mess
His call pulls sublime

He'll lift you above
To see life worth living
His heart's long on love
And it's love that's worth giving
