DRAW ME

Lord, draw me to you
like the day draws
moisture from the land

Soak into me
and sooth my tired eyes

Let me drink from your light
like the flowers in Spring
And don't let me go
like the light from the day

DAVIE ASKS ABOUT GOD
By Anonymous

These are actual conversations that Davie (age 4) had with his Grandmother.

IN THE CAR, driving home after Preschool:

Davie: I don't think God is "berry" nice.

Gma: Why do you say that? God loves us very much and wants us to be
happy.

For God so LOVED the world, that He gave His only begotten
Son... John 3:16

May the righteous be glad and rejoice before God;
may they be HAPPY and joyful. Psalms 68:3

Davie: Because He makes you be dead before you see Him.

Gma: (thinking)

Davie: And Grandma, God punishes you when you do bad things.

Gma: Hmmm... I don't like to think of it like that. I think God loves us so
much that He sent His Son Jesus to earth to be a baby and grow up and
then wanted to show us how much He loved us by letting Jesus be punished
for ALL the bad things that people do. And Jesus took the worst punishment
they had at that time. So now, all we have to do is to tell God that we are
sorry when we do something bad and to thank Him that Jesus took our
punishment... And then we are clear with God. ....BUT your mommy may still
have to punish you to teach you not to do it again.

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said,
"Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the
World!" John 1:29

God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him
We might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21

LATER, IN THE KITCHEN:

Davie: I still don't want to go to Heaven!

Gma: Of course not, you are very young and will live for a long, long,
long time before you get old.
And then when you get really old, you may think differently about it.

I am looking forward to heaven, because I will see my mom and dad and
others I love. And I won't have to have old bones and aches and pains
anymore. I will get a new body and be able
To run and jump and play just like you do now.

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more
Death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has
Passed away. Revelation 21:4

Davie: You get to be alive again?????

Gma: YES!

(Without waiting, Davie ran with the enthusiasm of a born again radical
to tell someone. He found a closed bathroom door and started pounding
on it.)

Davie: Uncle Bob, Uncle Bob, you get to be alive again in Heaven!!!

Bob: I know, Davie.

But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first-fruits of
Those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man,
The resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in
Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made ALIVE.
1 Corinthians 15:20-22

ANOTHER DAY, after a telephone conversation with Davie' s mother:

Mom: Davie, do you want to say 'hi' to Grandma?

Davie: Hi Grandma. Aaaah... Does God have water to drink in Heaven... if
He gets thirsty?

Gma: Yes, Davie. I have read in God's Book about fountains.

To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the
Spring of the water of life. Revelation 21:6

Davie: How about pools?

Gma: Don't know about that, but there is a river you could swim in.

Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life,
As clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and
Of the Lamb ... Revelation 22:1

Davie: Does God have potato chips in Heaven?

Gma: Don't know about that either, but I do know there is food in Heaven.

I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now
On until that day when I drink it anew with you in my
Father's kingdom. Matthew 26:29

On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve
Crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. Revelation 22:2

After His suffering, He showed Himself to these men and gave
Many convincing proofs that He was alive. He appeared to them
Over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.
On one occasion, WHILE HE WAS EATING with them...
Acts 1:3-4

Davie: (slight pause) Grandma, do you want to say 'hi' to Dixie?
(giggle-giggle)

(Dixie, his dog, just celebrated her first birthday.)

Gma: Silly guy. I love you very much.. Bye now.

We give shelter to the homeless and help them attain
employment and housing. Before we can accomplish this,
we need to boost their self-esteem and let them know
people care and that Jesus walks with them. We would like
to be able to hand these bookmarks out to them.

- Helen Gutekunst (Nashua, NH)

I intend to take these bookmarks to the homeless shelter
soup kitchen where I serve lunch each Sunday and distribute
them to the homeless people.

- Libby (Tulsa, OK)

For a gift to several local shelters (a rehab one, one for
abuse victims & one for unwed expectant mothers). Also for a
local ministry outreach program at our neighborhood church.

- Vivian (Savannah, GA)

My husband is a Youth Pastor and we would like to give the
bookmarks out to our youth.

- Kerri (Lafayette, IN)

Will use bookmarks as openers to witness to people. I am a
new convert and getting started is hard. With these
bookmarks I can hand someone one and that will give me
an opening. I will use them for the glory of God.

- Fannie Burnette (Pulaski, VA)
